We are seeking an attorney with strong contracting and licensing experience to work closely with our Content Licensing and re-selling teams globally. 

The ideal candidate will have experience with distribution, re-selling, and channel partner agreements, and also have working knowledge of Intellectual Property law, including but not limited to Copyright laws.  This position will be part of a larger legal team with other members located in London, as well as Denmark, and our headquarters in the United States.

What you'll do:

  • Primary areas of legal knowledge and experience should include content licensing (print, online, broadcast, content), and any type of channel, re-seller, or distribution agreements.
  • Additional areas of legal knowledge and experience should include intellectual property (copyright, trademark/name, patent), and as well as corporate law, employment, and litigation.
  • Day to day work will consist of: 
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts for the Content Licensing and Product business units including license agreements, technology agreements, partnership agreements and other vendor contracts 
  • Liaising with Content Licensing and Product teams and providing legal advice on copyright and IP issues
  • Providing transactional, corporate governance and compliance activities.
  • Providing support and day-to-day legal advice to the Cision group of companies’ various business units including HR and international entities outside the UK
  • Advising on various other commercial initiatives within Cision which may include compliance activities and policies
  • Assisting with litigation and employment issues that arise
  • Researching and analysing various legal issues

What you have:

  • 3-5 years PQE with copyright and content licensing experience, preferably in the technology or software as a service (SaaS) field.
  • Familiarity with software legal/licensing concepts such as intellectual property, limitations of liability, indemnification, etc. 
  • Familiarity with technology and/or software-as-a-service (SaaS) licensing and data privacy a plus. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines in a service oriented and sales-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively and work diplomatically with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Organized, efficient and able to handle multiple tasks with ease and professionalism.
  • Willingness to master new and unfamiliar areas of practice.
