Cision will be the most comprehensive, integrated earned media platform in the marketplace, delivering world class distribution, software and services, data, and measurement that will enable the Communications and IR lines of business to enact a complete digital transformation. The business will grow revenue and EBITDA significantly over 4 years with the best-in-class product offerings, and in doing so drive a significant increase in enterprise value. This will require a dedicated Investor Relations (IR) Activation leader to ensure a significant improvement in Cision’s presence in the IR space. There will be strong partnerships with the Global Product, Commercial and Marketing teams to ensure alignment of customer strategy, product road map and engagement. Cision’s Distribution function will be an excellent cultural workplace that is performance oriented, where talented employees desire to come, stay, and do their best work.


  • IR Revenue:  Responsible for increasing the number of IR rooms and growing associated revenue.  Work in partnership with global Cision sales, marketing, and product teams to achieve this goal. Build and execute a business case to expand the existing product offering – adding Share Ownership, Earnings Estimates, and other data features.  Institute a local IR strategy for the Canadian, European and APAC marketing.   
  • Training and Subject Matter Expertise.  Train Cision sales organization and act as SME to ensure they are knowledgeable and comfortable selling IR.  Ensure sales are updated and have materials on current trends, pain points and Cision solutions for global IR professionals.  Represent Cision at Global IR events and develop a thought leadership identity within the industry. 
  • Investor Relations Partnership Expansion:  Develop and execute a plan to expand Cision’s IR offering to include more data and workflow solutions.  Determine how to achieve through partnerships and/or bolt-on acquisitions.  Develop global exchange and compliance relationships that will provide a channel of new IR clients and enhance product offerings.   

Core Competencies:

  • Industry experience: extensive experience in the Investor Relations industry with a deep understanding of data, workflow and compliance needs.  Ideally a background in sales, product management or direct investor relations.   
  • Negotiation: strong negotiation skills, with significant track-record of delivering deals on time and within scope 
  • Financial Mindset: A strong financial acumen and a proven track record of delivering margin-accretive innovation and cost management 
  • Communication: clear and data-driven communicator, able to articulate vision and direction, as well as convey complex problems with ease. Experience communicating with executive audiences down through to front-line staff 
  • Ownership: an individual who displays a high degree of proactivity and accountability in their work and instills that mindset in their teams. Comfortable operating and making decisions in situations with limited data, little structure and/or few established processes. Willing to work though ambiguity and prioritize with 80/20 focus 
  • PE Mindset: Dynamic and agile vs. a caretaker; capable of problem-solving at the evolving & fast pace required in Private Equity 
  • Team and Capability Building Experience: Proven capabilities of identifying talent, building teams, working in environments where process maturity is required. Has ability to teach and foster continuous improvement and to install systems and processes where ones have not existed or are sub-standard
