Cision collects massive amounts of data to help public relations teams better manage their brands.  In this role, you’ll be leading teams focused on building the next version of our big data content platform.  This is a large investment area at Cision and critical for driving future value.  You’ll be leading teams working with the latest technologies and you will be critical in helping us continue modernizing our tech stack for the future.

Responsibilities

  • Manage two or more Managers or Sr. Managers, who will have their own Managers and/or direct reports 
  • Develop strategies for recruiting talent across markets 
  • Provide leadership, career development, and mentorship for the team 
  • Help develop a high-performance culture, with strategies for recruiting, developing, and retaining top performers 
  • Work closely with product and engineering leaders to develop strategy for content and data products 
  • Help drive quarterly planning with product and ensure product initiatives are staffed with the right engineering resources  
  • Collaborate with stakeholders outside of product and engineering (sales, operations, executive, and customers) to collect feedback and represent engineering perspectives 
  • Lead consolidation of similar application services into single well architected microservices for use globally  
  • Identify areas for improvement and set advanced long term strategic technical direction  
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, collaborating on staffing needs project work 
  • Establish a collaborative matrix working model for software development and data science within agile 
  • Drive SDLC best practices across teams 
  • Participate and help drive technical discussions about architecture and the future our of technology stack  

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology or related field   
  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple teams of software engineers 
  • Proven experience coaching/mentoring engineers in an Agile environment 
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, commercial software and methodologies is required. Broad exposure working on a variety of platforms is required. 
  • Experience with big data platforms and running complex topologies for streaming a data a plus 
  • Good knowledge of microservice architectures  
  • Experience with messaging technologies, Kafka is a big plus, we use it a lot
