Position Purpose:  
 
As Enterprise New Business Director your mission is to find and close new business in your assigned territory (federal government sector) with a hunter mentality and approach. Your success will be dependent upon your ability to prospect for business through networking events, referrals, cold-calling, and any other means necessary. Your polished written and verbal communication skills will be important when engaging prospects and effectively differentiating Cision’s services and value proposition from the competition. 

Job Summary:

Objective: meet or beat financial targets for Enterprise new business growth, specifically within the Federal Government segment.  Cision’s Federal Government segment is defined by any department associated with the U.S. Federal Government 
Key participant within the Commercial Leadership team to develop ongoing sales execution strategies aimed at taking market share from competitors within the Federal Government segment 
Responsible for generating new business & developing strong client relationships to ensure client retention & incremental revenue
Partner with Sales leadership and Sales representatives on growth strategy, sales enablement & training, proposal development and closing new/upsell business 
Partner with Marketing leadership to develop and execute a Cision Enterprise market positioning plan
Work with product marketing, events, demand generation and public relations teams within Cision marketing to support Enterprise new business sales strategies & execution 
Deliver thought leadership marketing through writing and public speaking directed towards Cision’s target audiences - PR/Comms & social media professionals 
Represent Cision’s Government Relations Team in professional associations such as Public Affairs and Government Section of the PRSA
Serve as a senior-level communications research consultant for prospective clients 

You'll help us with:

  • Responsible for business growth for the Government Relations Team (GRT) through sales and marketing
  • Assist GRT leadership in formulating and executing our strategic plan performance 
  • Data-driven & proactive analytic approach to sales execution strategies
  • Partners with sales at all levels in prospect targeting, proposal development, pricing, and deal closing 
  • Responsible for the growth of Federal government accounts in partnership with Sales Leadership by focusing on net new business opportunities, contributing to RFPs and pitching efforts
  • Serves as a senior-level consultant to C-Suite level client executives, contributing to strategy sessions and in-person client meetings as requested and required 
  • Facilitates a robust and effective communication process to provide progress updates and educate internal stakeholders within the enterprise team
  • Work with marketing to properly position Cision, Insights and the media analysis group within the Federal Government segment 
  • Deliver thought leadership content (writing and public speaking) to reinforce our position as research-based consultants & global PR/comms industry expert 
  • Represent the company in professional communications associations or networking events

You'll be a good fit if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university 
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Government relations or research-based consulting
  • Significant sales/consultative experience with the Federal agencies / entities
  • Strong connections to and/or membership of PR and Communications professional associations and Government professional associations or, equivalent combination of education and experience
